How To Know God

 
God knows and loves you.  It is His desire that you know and love Him. 
 
Jesus said that "no man (or woman) comes to the Father but by Me (John 14:6)."  He also said that "no one comes to the Son unless the Father draws him (John 6:44)."  Therefore, if you want to know God you must begin by believing in Jesus and receive Him into your heart as Lord of your life.
 
When we believe in Jesus and ask Him to be Lord of our lives, the Father and the Holy Spirit come with Him.  Our God is one, a Triune God of Father (Yahweh), Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. 
 
How does all this happen?  First, we acknowledge that we have sinned and need to be forgiven. Next, we repent (change the way we think and act) of our sin and ask God to forgive us. Scripture says, that God is faithful to forgive us when we ask Him.  This is the start of our walk with God and knowing Him.
 
We need to find a good church (one that preaches and teaches the whole Truth of God's Word), begin to read the Bible, a good place to start is the Gospel of John, and pray (spending quality time with God). 
 
The more time you spend reading the Bible and praying, the better you will know God. God wants you to know Him and have an experiential relationship with Him.  God loves us and wants us to love Him.  We spend time on and with that which we love.
