Hunger Mountain Christian Assembly
Our Faith
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, to be the only infallible, authoritative written word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in: the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return to power and glory to judge the living and the dead.
We believe that all: are born with a nature of sin and must be "born again" to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
We believe that: salvation is by faith, without works, solely by God's grace, and Jesus Christ has paid the price for our sin by shedding His precious blood on the cross for our redemption.
We also believe that all followers of the Lord Jesus Christ should "work out their salvation with fear and trembling" and that we should be "doers of the word and not hearers only", for "faith without works is dead".
We believe that the prime agency of the work of God's Kingdom is the local Christian church, functioning under the sovereignty of our Lord Jesus Christ with oversight by the Elders, and that every born-again Christian should follow the example of our Lord in water baptism by immersion and by celebrating and partaking of the Lord's Supper.
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit through which the believing Christian receives grace, enabling one to live a godly life.
We believe that every member of the body is important and that the Holy Spirit distributes gifts throughout the body as He chooses, which need to be exercised for the common good. There shall be no restraint on the exercise of spiritual gifts beyond those laid down in scripture.
We believe in the return of Jesus Christ to consummate His Kingdom, in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved to the resurrection of life and those who are lost to the resurrection of the damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ which promotes regular fellowship with other born-again believers and a commitment to a local church with regular participation in its activities, which is important for spiritual growth.
